Los Sauces Boarding School in Pontevedra is far from the idea that some people might have of a boarding school. It is a family community dedicated to each pupil so that they can make the most of their classes and study time.

Our residence is an opportunity for students who need a study setting offering constant support and guidance which they isn’t possible at home or in another school. The main characteristics are:

• Colegio Los Sauces Pontevedra is open to pupils from 3 years old up to Bachillerato covering every stage of their education.
• It can accommodate 84 students which represents 20% of the total number of pupils
• There are 2 floors (one for male pupils and the other for females)
• Rooms can take up to 4 pupils who are accommodated according to age, interests and class/year.
• A balanced diet
• In house kitchen
• 5 meals a day (breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner)
• Monthly report sent to every family covering areas such as relationships with classmates and monitors, attitude to study and school norms, room tidiness and general behaviour.

Pupils’ daily life is made up of school days and days off. On school days, life is centred round classes, while on weekends and days off they are a mix of study and leisure.

Typical school day:

• 8 am: Wake up
• 8:30 am: Breakfast
• 9:00 am: Beginning of classes

• 4:45 pm: Ending of classes
• 5pm – 6:15 pm Back to the residence. Snack and fee time.
• 6:15 pm – 8:30 pm: Homwork and  Deberes and study lead by tutor support
• 9pm: Dinner time
• 9:30 pm: Free time or individual study
• 10:30 pm: Return to bedrooms
• 11:30 pm: Lights out

At the weekend study periods are combined with free time, sports and organised activities: outings to the city centre, cinema or cultural historic sites and walking trails in the surrounding area.

Pupils are provided with various services:

• Room cleaning and laundry service
• Dining Hall. As mentioned, pupils have five meals a day: breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner.
• Medical services. The school doctor can attend to the pupils if they are ill. Likewise the school has private medical insurance where pupils can be brought to a hospital when necessary.

• Orientation Department. The school has an Orientation Department which carries out an assessment of each child when they come to the school to establish the most appropriate course for their academic progress.
• On the weekends, if the children wish to visit their families transport is arranged to various locations in Galicia. If pupils live outside of Galicia arrangements for connecting transport are made.
